Concerned about Xbox Music

It's a deal breaker for me. I'm looking for an Android alternative. I can't live without music. In the meantime, I'm using Listen as a frontend.

I like the fact that all my artists have their backgrounds now straight off the bat, unlike in the old one but now they don't show up on the lock screen even though I have the option enabled. WHAT THE HELL!? Also seems a bit laggy, but on the bright side it can be updated through the store now so it can improve quickly (hopefully)

Urg this is murder for my battery I have 21k songs in my collection and I'm only at 7,300 after an hour. Much sadness.

700+ songs on the phone, only took 2-3 minutes to be usable. Hell, it could take 2 minutes to launch everytime I want to use it now and I wouldn't care, we can finally create and edit playlists on the phone now without needing to have an Xbox music pass!!!! WOO HOO!

On 8.0 , if I downloaded a movie via Xbox Video, it increased the app size from it's normal ~40MB to ~2gb. So the app size increased instead of it showing up as separate media.

It worked perfectly along with MPAtool... it doesn't seem to be working anymore either

I don't think it's the app alone. It's something in the guts of the phone that handles the music that makes it soooooo slow. I tried opening My Music in Nokia Mix Radio. It takes about 45 seconds to get that list. EVERY TIME, not only first time. Granted, I have about 3000 songs on my phone. But this should not be a problem and hasn't been pre WP8.1. Terribly, terribly slow. To a point of making music on WP8.1 unusable. I really don't understand what they did there. I do hope a fix is due very soon.

Was worried I was the only one with this problem, but apparently not. This is a real shame, as I exclusively rely on local music, stored on my SD card.. Really hope for a fix.
In the meantime I'm gonna give nokia mix radio a swirl, I remember being able to access local music from there too..

I highly recommend people give the app "Listen" a try. It's a much quicker frontend replacement for Xbox Crap-Pile.

It really blows when the best music experience was on WP7. Had a great music client in zune, and none of these problems.

MS ran out of time, I guess.
So, I just paid for an OS pre-alpha version (WP8) and now I'm a MS alpha tester (WP8.1).
Very sad.

It happened to me too. I think i'm going to use nokia MixRadio or something else

I'm switching as well: xbox music does not play the album tracks in the correct order. Pretty weird, as in the overview of the tracks in the album view the order is correct. Yet, once I hit play, the songs in queue are placed in a random order.

Edit: MixRadio doesn't seem to work anymore, just like MoliPlayer.

Why hasn't WP Central mentioned this? They really could have stopped licking Microsoft's asses for about two seconds to bring this up. I would have never "upgraded."

I have certain music physically (if you can say physically) on my phone, so how the hell am I supposed to play that when it's buried amongst all the other virtual stuff?
And bollocks to Cloud storage. What use is that with no signal?

Yup, it's pretty crap tbh. However, three hints we are getting an update soon

The Xbox video UI changed in 8.1 but the Xbox Music UI uses the same 8.o design style
Finally, Joe Belfiore said so on twitter along with the new Twitter, Facebook and Skype apps, the music app will also receive an 8.1 update.

Thank you. Mine stopped working during Amber, only useful for playing Mixes. Not Microsoft's fault, I'm probably just unlucky as I've switched PHONES and reset phones multiple times.
