Connecting 920 to computer

Hi..
I have just tried to connect my Lumia 920 (8.1) to my laptop and it says unable to install drivers. Mine's a RM-822 Lumia 920;
Lap is running windows vista service pack 2;
Windows Media Player version 11

I have right clicked on my device manager and tried to update the drivers but it says windows cannot install your Lumia phone.

I have no idea what to do or how to get my lap to recognize my phone. I really need to get my tunes on my phone before Sunday.

First things first.

Did it connect when you had WP8 installed?

My suggestion is this:

Uninstall the WP drivers from your computer.

Restart it. Make sure it's connected to the internet.

Soft reset your phone (just to be sure).

Connect your phone to USB in it's unlocked state.

The drivers should install correctly.

Give that a go and see what happens. Keep in mind that it takes some time to install everything.
