Contact nicknames?

When adding a contact, there is a section for Nickname, does do anything?

Like say I have a friend named John Doe and I save his first name as john last name as Doe and then give him a nickname of "slim"


I can't type "slim" in the to field of a text or email and it find John Doe right? At least I have not had success with this. I have to type John or Doe for it to find him.


so does the nickname do anything other than show up on the contact info?

you can use the voice funtions with the nickname. "call slim" or "text slim".
