Contacts on phone - transfer to PC

I tried looking at multiple tutorials and guides online but cant seem to find a solution.

Basically I want to transfer all my contacts data into an EXCEL file and keep on my laptop, simple.

This was SO easy on earlier phones, dont know why its so complicated on the windows phone system.

I understand that it takes a backup of the contacts on the ONE DRIVE / MICROSOFT LIVE account but where can I access this entire list of contacts ?

If you login to outlook (webmail) on the PC then click the down arrow next to outlook, there'll be an option to access people. I think you can export your contacts from there but don't quote me on that.

Just head over to outlook.com, click on the down arrow on the top left and choose contacts (might be called people, dunno for sure). From there you can export your contacts by clicking "manage".
