Hello , last month I've bought Lumia 950 including dock. Since i don't have a hdmi cable i didn't test it. Yesterday I bought a new hdmi cable. Now it's not projecting any display on my pc . Not even getting an alert (for peripheral connected alert) . What's wrong? However using dock im able to manage multiple usb devices (pen drive,mouse,..) BUT DISPLAY PROJECTION FAILS.

Re: Continuum not working

Tried starting the Continuum app and connect from there?

Yup. No use

What's the hdmi cable type i should use. I've bought cable having hdmi outpoints on both ends .

What's the additional cable that i should buy to connect my L950 through dock to pc. (Dual side hdmi headed cable Or hdmi - usb cable)

If you have the Display Dock already, then an HDMI or Display Port able to your monitor is all you would need.

I've got a cable which on both ends have an hdmi pin. But when I connected dock with pc -there's no response at all

Re: Continuum not working

Just a regular, normal hdmi cable as far as I know. Maybe your screen has more than one input source and you need to manually select hdmi?

You don't connect dock to PC. One end of HDMI to the dock, other end to an HDMI input on a TV or monitor.

Thanks for info , but how can I do so.? I'm using dell laptop running on W10 x86 home edtn .

Of course it might work easy on tv or monitor but i wish to expand my device on my laptop 💻.

Actually I wish expanding my L950 on my laptop 💻. Is continuum not supported for laptops/PCs?

User... Do not create multiple threads on your issue. It actually works against you as any advice gets scattered around and a coherent conversation cannot develop as easily...

Title edited for clarity.

Yeah it has. But nothing shows / happens when i connect my phone through dock via hdmi cable.

Your laptop has HDMI-OUT. Continuum has HDMI-OUT on the dock. You need to plug it into a projector or Monitor with HDMI-IN. The plug may fit but the laptop is built to send signal not receive. It's confusing because both are female ports. If it was male to female it would make more sense for OP.

Try taking any laptop with a VGA (old type of plug) and connect it to another laptop. Will the 2nd laptop show the 1st laptop on it's screen? No, they are both VGA-OUT ports and you need to connect a VGA-OUT to VGA-IN port to make it work.

Display dock doesn't register because it cannot find a HDMI-IN port, it only saw a HDMI-OUT port

Like it has been said, continuum is video out only. Laptops tend to have an hdmi out. HDMI ports are not bidirectional. If you want to use your laptop, then you'll have to buy an external capture box that has HDMI in, like the ones from AVerMedia.

But lets me honest, it seems counterproductive to use your laptop to do what is essentially being marketed as a laptop replacement/alternative.
