Cortana getting always listening feature

Read that Cortana will be updated in the future with an always-listening mode like the Moto X. Does anybody know if current phones (mine is a Lumia 1520) have the hardware chops to support this feature?

Yes, at least theoretically. Qualcomm lists hardware supported always-on listening as a feature of the snapdragon 800, which is the SoC in your 1520.

I've just never seen a device with that SoC use the feature.
