Okay, so, I have a Lumia Icon that I bought secondhand from the U.S. As we all know, the Icon is a Verizon phone. I'd like to know: will I be able to get the Cyan Update in Canada on my Icon? I'm not a Verizon customer, and obviously Rogers won't push an update for a phone they don't sell.

My assumption is that I can use the Nokia Software Updater and get it through that, but I'm only assuming. Any thoughts?

The Icon's firmware (or any firmware on any phone) is permanently tied to one source.
AT&T firmwares will point to AT&T for updates.
Verizon firmwares (in your case) will look to Verizon for updates, REGARDLESS of current carrier.
You could take your phone to Rogers, T-Mobile, Vodafone, whatever, (or heck, use it without service) and it will still look to Verizon for its update.

ooh okay. I thought that getting a carrier specific update required you to be in the region of the carrier and/or on the carriers network...
