Is it for a carrier in Mexico? Doesn't it have a carrier logo during booting?

No its not a carrier in Mexico, its the unlocked and unbranded Mexico country variant ROM. The product code is 059X153. It should work pretty well with Canadian carriers.

I have successfully de-branded two different phones and installed the tmo ROM. One phone is still running 8.1 and is working just fine. But the second phone is running 10.0.10586.107 and the data connection is not working. I may have to post in the XDA thread as I have not seen anyone else mention this issue. I've re-flashed a second time and checked to see if data worked fine with 8.1 (it did) and then I installed the latest slow ring install and data stopped again.

Great! I flashed this ROM on my AT&T Lumia 640 LTE. Now all bloatware are gone. Plus there is no T-Mobile logo during booting time.

Thanks!

I used the following command to flash LTA-MX ROM @pankaj981 recommended, changed product code to 059X153, and updated NVI accordingly.

thor2 -mode uefiflash -ffufile "C:\Lumia\RM-1073\RM1073_02177.00000.15184.36003_RETAIL_prod_signed_1011_027112_000-22_MV.ffu" -productcodeupdate 059X153 -do_full_nvi_update -do_factory_reset

Everything works great except the fast mobile network shows 4G under Setting. I do get faster LTE access compared to that on TMo, though. Another shortcoming is MixRadio is missing in this ROM. Other than those, this ROM is very clean without any bloatware or carrier logo.

Another interesting finding is I cannot seem to access Field Test menu on this ROM. Anyone knows if there is a different command?

Thanks.

4G on that ROM is basically LTE. MixRadio service is being retired (or already has been) so it'll be pulled from all platforms eventually. Field Test Mode is usually disabled on all variants of LTA ROM. Canadian and American variants are your best bet for Field Test Mode enabled in the ROM. I'm still researching if I could find an unbranded Canadian ROM for the 640.

Do you know if this rom supports Band 12? Thanks.

To clarify: Will installing the T-Mobile prevent us from using the AT&T network?

If so, is there a generic unbranded rom that will allow is to use AT&T and still have WiFi tethering?

See my response above. You can flash to the LTA-MX unbranded ROM directly after the cab push. No need to flash to the T-Mobile ROM if you don't need WiFi calling.

Thanks pankaj981.

The 059X153 code that you mentioned is for the LTA 7R CV. The two LTA MX models (TELCEL and TELCE SL) use the codes 059X1N3 and 059X1N4.

Just want to be sure that 059X153 (LTA 7R CV) is the one to use.

Did you update NVI as well? Flashing T-Mobile ROM doesn't guarantee wifi calling working. Or 059X153 doesn't support Band 12.

I ended up installing the 059X153 firmware.

WiFi tethering still doesn't work. The same message appears as before (contact AT&T).

It's working now.

I had selected AT&T instead of 'TracFone Data' for the mobile operator settings. After making the proper selection (TracFone) and rebooting, WiFi tethering works perfectly.

I use Straight Talk on the AT&T network. It seems that actual AT&T users might still not be able to use tethering with this firmware though.

Can an AT&T user verify?

I reverted back to TMO ROM because my bluetooth gets disconnected intermittently on this 7R CV ROM. LTE speed seems to be slow on TMo Rom, though.

Wifi tethering is controlled by the setting in ICS. You have to change (by one of the various methods) the key HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ICSSVC\Settings the value EntitlementRequired setting it to 0

Is this only to enable the switch or does it also need carrier approval?

No this removes the carrier approval check. It's set to 1 for all carrier ROMs. With it set to 0 it won't check the network to see if you're allowed. There is another value there Enabled which turns on/off the switch. Note this key is writable without Interop unlock. BTW this doesn't mean for certain you can tether as there are reports of browser string checks on some networks.
