Desperately need help problem after upgrade

My Toshiba laptop did a Microsoft upgrade & now I’m stuck with a white box with icon symbols in a cycle on it & isn’t appearing to reboot properly
Can’t seem to access anything or even get past log in screen
Please help - technically challenged
