Disappointing...

I am wondering if part of this phones focus is on developing countries, to try and give the next billion a better phone than the Nokia X, or 520?

Now that you have used Nokia X, here is the Nokia 635, an organic transition to WP.

That's what the 630 is for. I believe the 635 is supposed to be the US version.

It really (for me) depends on a price tag....

As I didn't see one listed, I can't say. If my 521 dies, and the 635 is about 99~150, sure. I'll get it. If it's priced at the 200+ range, I'll probably stick with another 521, as I really love this phone. To the point that when I broke my last one, I bought it AGAIN. (That NEVER happened with me before, I have a habit of changing phones a LOT)

So we'll see....

Well this should have been called the Lumia 530 cause this seems like a replacement to the 520/521 other than the 620
Ofcourse the lack of FFC and some other things (like flash) is quite a backtrack but the phone is decent has a 4.5 inch display with CLEARBLACK tech which certainly makes the screen nice and it has sensorcore, quad core processor, bigger battery and windows 8.1, Being a Lumia it offers excellent value so we should wait for the reviews and our own hands on until we label this device a fail or disappointment

I think it will sell very well indeed. The average entry level consumer doesn't follow Nokia devices as closely as we do. 635 will make sense to them when they see the bigger, brighter display running the latest OS.

Since there was no other announcement of an 8.1 phone coming to T-Mobile, am I alone in finding this 635 a disappointment? It just seems like they're backtracking by going from the 925 to this phone. Screen is 800x480 pixels, no front-facing camera, rear camera is 5 megapixels and there's no Flash? 512MB of RAM?? It just leaves me feeling blah. I wasn't planning on getting whatever this "Monarch" was going to turn out to be since I just got a 925 and have my 920 as a backup, but this is very disheartening. Why would T-Mobile get such a low end Lumia when most of their newer Android devices and of course the iPhone are high end? Just don't get it. :unhappy:

Because not everyone wants to lay out the cash for a high end device.
Someone has to cover the low end consumer, why not Nokia? As an aside, I'm really puzzled by this recent trend of people complaining about devices they have no intention of buying. ????

Don't u guys think that Nokia is possibly holding back until Apple announces their phone in Sept? I suspect we may see the first Nokia/Microsoft phone this fall that will go toe to toe with the Galaxy 5 and iPhone 6.

Nokia 521 is probably the best low cost smartphone out there, period. The addition of 720p resolution, FFC, rear camera flash, and 1GB RAM would have made this phone almost top tier at a budget price. For example 521 sells routinely for $69 to $79. They could easily sell the fine tuned 630 for $99 to $129 and it would basically grab a huge chunk of market share because not everybody wants a top tier phone at a top tier price. The 630 would have given so many people a premium experience at a budget price (something Google is trying to do with Moto G and Nexus 5) and Apple lamely tried with the iPhone 5c or by continuing to sell iPhone 4S. This tweaked 630 would dominate sales not only in the US on T-Mo/MetroPCS/ATT but only do really well in Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America.
What a lost opportunity!

To add to this, my guess is Nokia/MSFT are going to get greedy and call the phone with 4.5" screen, 720p resolution, 1GB RAM, FFC, flash on rear camera, LTE, microSD card support a 8xx series phone and then not get as many customers as they would have got by staying in the 6xx series:-)

LOL 512 mb ram,no flash,No FFC.really nokia? I mean Really? After giving 525 a 1 gb you are looking back? And giving 620 FFC + flash you are looking back??? What about the competition,Moto G? G700? Xiaomi?? What are you doing? Staahp

But somehow it's gonna be awesome with a capital A! Astounding! Instead of complaining about the state of affairs I'll try to sound excited. In other news I'm going to AT&T! I'm really excited about the options and more specifically the 1520.

If this phone had 1gig and a slightly higher price range I would buy it. I own a 521, and it's on the same level as the 630 I believe. I don't need LTE, 4G works great. This seems to be an Apple iPhone 5C killer thought. all the varied colors and a price that absolutely kills the iPhone 5c. Apple seems ******** when trying to make a phone for the masses. $550 bucks to have the iPhone experience. a 521 can be gotten for $60 bucks online. The 653 will only cost $189. Nokie know how to make phones for the masses.

Let's see. .. Microsoft owns Skype and wants to integrate it in the OS, but approves a phone with no ffc.. interesting. ..

Oh yeah, you guys are not the only ones disappointed with TMobile WP offerings. The latest they have currently is the L925, which is what I have. It's a great phone, but I would like something like the 1520.

The last few days I've been thinking to switch to ATT because of their WP offerings. TMobile has great service plans, but sucky/dated WP lineup, while ATT has great WP offerings, but terrible service plans.

My next JUMP upgrade is in July, I hope a new set up WP comes to TMobile besides the 6XX models that was announced.

Don't think they carry the 810 any longer. It's 521 or 925 if you want a Nokia.

yeah, I kinda agree and I'm sure they are working on it. It's just that Tmo has to get in line behind the big two unless they want to pony up the bucks. Make sure you make your voice heard with the people that make the decisions. Don't bother telling your store reps that you want to see more WP.

I agree 100% with you. There's no point in only venting about lack of WP on WPCENTRAL. Contact your carriers and let them know. Harass them just as much as you harass this site. Not the store reps though, that will fall on deaf ears.

Over at Sprint their forums had been taken over by WP users demanding phones after they initially didn't offer them late 2012. They responded, not the answers we wanted to hear, but regardless they responded over and over again and you could tell they were getting frustrated.

Watching those idiots stand in line for over a week just to get the iPhone 6 is going to make me puke.

Ah but Apple loves it! And I would too if I was the one reaping the rewards. Microsoft would love to have that "problem."

Oh no doubt MS would, but for me personally, I will not camp out for a week just to be the first one to get a phone that in a few weeks, everyone will have.
