Do 930 motion data work in build 10512?

I lost the motion data (steps tracker) ability when I upgraded my Lumia 930 to 10 Tech Preview (a few builds back)

Does it work in 10512? Or it's still broken?

Yes it works for me in build 10512, it looks like the same app from WP8.1 though...

I can't even see "motion data" in Extras section of settings, and MSN Health and Fitness doesn't show step tracker option...

I did a hard reset after installing 10512.

What is Motion Data? Motion Data is a special feature originally built by Nokia for their Lumia phones, based off their beta Motion Monitor app from late 2013. The system app uses GPS and the accelerometer, letting the phone collect your steps and location for use in third-party apps like Bing Health + Fitness through the SensorCore API.

Only phones with the newer Snapdragon 400, 600 or 800 series can leverage SensorCore, as it uses aspects of the chipset not found on earlier S4 hardware. You also need the Lumia Cyan firmware to enable.

So yo mean Lumia 640XL (WIn 10 preview build) should support it with built in MSN Health & Fitness App?


BTW, from Store, it always shows new Motion app there, but never update successfully, how about your side's result?

It works for me using health & fit app or newest microsoft health app.

motion data does not get updated from the store, but the original app that was installed with the OS, works just fine.

Restore to 8.1 stock using Windows Device Recovery Tool >> update all system apps from store >> update to WM10 using insider >> hard reset >> setup phone (do not restore from backup) >> install all applications including updates >> start using phone. By this time your motion sensor should work on WM10.

L635 WM10 10586.36 motion sensor not working after upgrade from 8.1. Haven't done hard reset because then I probably loose Here Drive+ and Here Maps which are still working now. Have to wait until public release of WM10. Besides motion sensor fault, everything else is just fine on L635 (1GB) with WM10.
Did anybody got motion data working on WM10 10586.36?

Also on my 1520 with .36 motion data doesn't work without reset. I didn't try with reset yet.

I realise what i was doing wrong:

From 8.1, Apply for insider, pick fast (if you like), let it do its windows 10 update then let it install, dont restore anything from old backups, then reinstall insider again and update to .36...after ages, again dont restore from old backup, set up the phone as new...NOW my Motion data is working perfectly

the two times i updated to 10 before I restored from my old data backups, I guess this bring across the incorrect motion data and corrupts things.

We should have a fresh installation of .36 build(reset) then I have downloaded "Microsoft Health" app but did not download the "Lumia Motion Data".
Then I have check the MS Health app and it had "Add Phone" now so just installed "Lumia Motion Data" and everything is working now.

Did you get Here Drive+ and Here Maps working after upgrades to WM10? Lots of people just loosing these apps and it's impossible to get them back yet. For me it just showing not compatible on Store for Here products but I haven't reset the phone and Drive and Maps are working fine. Tho not motion sensor...
