Do Windows Phones crash this much?

Had Lumia 810 and didn't recall crash. Got a Lumia 1020 for 2 weeks and crashed at least 3 times. The first two times were just not able to launch app. Power button can be used for reboot. Minutes ago, the hang was really bad that nothing responds. After holding all the keys, it still not reboot. Then I throw the phone on bed. After minutes later, it rebooted. This is the first time I have a uni-body Lumia. This is pretty frustrating as I could not remove the battery to force it reboot. A WP fan but really frustrated.

I had a an HTC X8 (or S8) and it crashed on average once a day.
Now a I have a Samsung ATIV S and it crashes on average once a day
My colleague also bought a Samsung Ativ S and it crashes once a day on average

Have my L920 for about a year now and never had a crash...

Have an 820 (since Feb) & 1020 (since Aug) total 2-3 crashes ever (needing soft reset). My wife has a 920 (since Feb) & 1020 (Since July) 1-2 crashes (needing a soft reset). Before that we had HTC Titan II's with no crashes. No hard resets ever needed on any of them.

I've had the Lumia for about 4 days now and so far have had 2 debilitating crashes that forced me to hold down random combination of keys, as if this were an android, to get it to even turn off. Both times I've been met with a phone that neither turns off with the normal press and hold of the power button nor responds to any key presses. About 3-5 minutes later of persistent key pressing, I'm greeted with a reboot. This last time I at least know that it (seemed) to occur while I was using the WP central app, so now I just need to replicate the problem to see if the issue is indeed the app.

Has anyone else had their phone freeze? Slightly frustrating.. The bugginess is making itself apparent little by little.

I have lumia 920 for the past one year and it hasn't crashed even once. And i am a very heavy user ! My old lumia 610 which i have been using from october 2012 has only crashed once.
