Does Kindle Work for Anyone?

Since getting my Surface Pro 4, I've not been able to get the Kindle app working. It installs but as soon as I try to download one of my books that I've already purchased, I get an error that says something like "Error downloading content." I've tried many times over the past couple of months and uninstalled and reinstalled Kindle. I also have seen, through a Google search, that this appears to be a common problem, and is more an Amazon than Microsoft problem.

Did you make sure it's listed properly under Amazon's Manage Your Content and Devices section? There's also a device number limit, though it usually tells you when you've exceeded it.

Also, I'd uninstall again, and if it's still there, delete the Kindle folder under Users/name/Appdata/local/packages/amznmobilellc... restart and reinstall.

The Kindle app on my SP4 m3 works OK, but I prefer the desktop program. The app is jumpy and it seems harder to move around within each document. I use the Kindle mainly for non-fiction reference books, like movie guides and textbooks, so the desktop version is easier to jump around pages.

As an aside, it's very frustrating the Windows Phone Kindle app doesn't have a search feature, so it makes it really hard to use reference books.

I had forgotten that there was a desktop Kindle program. I just downloaded it and it works fine. This is a good enough solution for me.
