Does the Surface Dock work fully with the tablet portion alone?

If anyone out there owns both the Surface Book 2 and a Surface Dock:

Could you please tell me if the Surface Dock is fully functional (USB, Ethernet, DisplayPort) when the dock is connected directly to the tablet portion of the Surface Book 2 — that is, by way of the Surface Connect port located in the bottom of the tablet where the keyboard base typically fits in?
