Does Windows Device Recovery Tool work for you?

This started as an enquiry on the Lumia 1520 forum, but now I wonder.....

Running 10586.36 on my Lumia 1520. I want to revert to WP8.1, but the Windows Device Recovery Tool won't work. When I plug the phone into the PC it appears in Explorer and I can navigate through the folders and files just fine.

When I start Windows Device Recovery Tool it, too, sees the phone and invites me to click on its picture. At that point it says "Reading device information" and shows the spinning circle and "Please wait". Unfortunately that's it - it just sticks at that point, apparently unable to read the device information.

Is anyone else having this problem? I wonder if the latest 10586.26 has a bug which stops it talking to WDRT.

Update: I fixed this by installing WDRT on my laptop and using that instead. Clearly there is some kind of driver issue on my desktop, despite me doing my best to make sure everything is up to date.
