So the Denim update (country variant) finally arrived for the 630 in the Netherlands, a couple of days ago. But I can't seem to get this update installed as it shows a 8018830f error when preparing the installation after a succesful download.

Internal storage is sufficient (more than 2GB) and Preview for Developers has never been installed.

Does anyone know what is happening or maybe has a solution?

If you have a SD card get it out of your phone and try the install again.

Even after a hard reset to stock settings on my Lumia 630, I get this friggin error code 8018830f when trying to install the Denim update.

Microsoft, what am I supposed to do?
Prayers and burning some candles perhaps? Ritual slaughter of my entire livestock?
Usually this is only needed when updating some pre-alpha Arch linux install....

I'd really like some hints on what to offer to the gods in this instance.
Perhaps some dolphins or a whale this time?

Seriously, what kind of crap update am I being offered here?

Sorry for a 'first post rant' here, folks but my Lumia has never offered me that much grief as it does now.

Not sure what you mean with above but if you where on preview for developer and did a hard reset you still on cyan+pfd and not on cyan (stock).

subliminal Ray: any good news?

I am having the exact same problem with my 630. It keeps on (trying to) update, but everytime there is this 8018830f error code.

I am having the exact same problem with my 630. It keeps on (trying to) update, but everytime there is this 8018830f error code.

In an attempt to get something going, I contacted Microsoft through the online chat service and was left frustrated. I explained that there were others that were in the same situation and that there had to be something wrong with the 'over-the-air' Denim update package. I emphasised that none of the phones ever had the Preview For Developers installed (I have two owned by family members and one by a good friend of mine). Although I mentioned this, the only solution he came up with was to back up all data and to try and install Denim through the Recovery Tool. Because, as he said, you only get the 8018830f error if PfD was installed, or had been installed in the past. He didn't answer my question if they couldn't take a closer look at the variant that we have as there clearly must be something wrong with the 'OTA' package.

So we are pretty much stuck with this user-hostile solution. I'm very disappointed, to say the least.

I also replied on other official Microsoft Community boards and 'till now no one responded to the problem, although more users confirmed that they were in same situation. Only one moderator that asked for a Product Code but that's it.

I was given a new Cricket 630. I have it for a spare. It works as is with my AT&T sim. Same error if I try to install DP.
If I run the LSRT, it basically says no files found for the phone.
If I try to install WP10 it gives no files found.
Denim has not been released for it.
It is a lump on the shelf.

Finally some good news for those that still couldn't update their phone 'OTA'!

From today, April 4th 2015, I was able to install Denim 'Over-The-Air' on all the three Lumia 630 phones I had this error on. So I think my guess was right that there was something wrong with the 'OTA' package. Here's hoping all things will go smooth when Windows 10 will arrive...
