Email a PDF?

Hi everyone,

I have one simple task...I need to email a PDF. As far as I can tell, there is no way to attach a PDF, nor any way to "share" one from Adobe Reader. As frustrating as that is, I have accepted it.

That said, I'm curious if anyone has found a workaround. Bearing in mind that I do not want to send a download link to the PDF, has anyone found a cloud service that allows for "sharing" via email? I've tried Boxfiles for Dropbox as well as Skydrive, but neither allows this.

This is a very frustrating, glaring omission on Microsoft's part and it is probably the ONLY thing that bothers me enough that I start to want an Android device... I think what's most annoying though is that I cannot even find a workable hack. Usually there's some way, SOME combination of apps, settings, or services that I can string together to get what I want, but this is just taunting me, poking me in the eye!

...any ideas? Thanks!

The only workaround I know is sharing it via email through Skydrive.

Unfortunately, you can only share links rather than the actual file. Some companies I send emails to block downloads from cloud services like Dropbox and SkyDrive, so I really need to attach the file itself. Thanks though!

IMO this is a glaring omission for MS... Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Especially if they want WP to truly be competitive in the business market... I could've used this feature trying to recruit a friend to the company I work for. Found out the hard way that I couldn't email his resume to my GM. FTR, I am a welder, so it's not just a need for white collar clientele.

Would it be helpful to copy into OneNote and put it up on Sharepoint? I realize that would be a huge hassle, but if you're stuck without access to a PC it could work in a pinch...

Its an omission by adobe ,not Microsoft. They could've easily put a share option in it like almost everything else.

Does anyone use Office 365? I wonder if all these missing features are reserved for their paid service?

I'm not sure if it is a MS omission because I email PDF's from the HandyScan app on a daily basis so I know that PDF's can be emailed. I would have to agree with eric12341 that Adobe needs to put a share option.

I've noticed that when I receive a PDF attachment and try to forward it, the recipient of my forwarded e-mail does not receive the attachment. Is this related to the issue described in this thread, or are all attachments unviewable?

I feel like that's a cop-out. It's Microsoft's OS, Microsoft's experience, and ultimately Microsoft who gets blamed. If WP is going to rely on Adobe to handle PDFs, then they better make sure it's a good experience, at least on par with the way the OS natively handles Office files.

Like Ford got blamed for the crappy tires Firestone put on the Explorer? Today's conventional wisdom would side with you, but the argument is invalid. It's Adobe's software. They have to make sure it works within Microsoft's parameters before submitting it for approval. It's not the IRS's responsibility to make sure your 1040 filing is correct, it your a$$ Cochise if they find any shenanigans.

I'm sorry, but from a branding/marketing view, if Microsoft fails to provide it's user with functionality available on all other OS's, it's Microsoft that loses, not third parties like Adobe. In this case, if Adobe fails to provide sharing, then it's on Microsoft to find an alternative such as baking it into the OS (or some other way).

Your own statements contradict themselves. You're talking about branding and marketing yet you feel MS needs to find another party that will do the job. Well guess what? Adobe is the only name that people recognize when they think about PDF. It seems to me that this is a wag the dog situation.

I've forwarded emails with PDF attachments in the past (and just tried it right now), and they get sent from the device without any issues. I've been able to send to Exchange accounts (within the organization) and GMail accounts, and both received the attachments just fine.

I believe the issue in this particular situation is the inability to attach a file from the Adobe Reader app. Hopefully Adobe updates their app to provide this feature.

Come to think of it, has this app ever received an update since its release to the Marketplace? Android and iOS have Adobe Reader 10 available while we're still on version 9. I tried looking for a "Contact Us" in the app, but couldn't find any.
