Error Addressing Voice-Initiated SMS

Say I have a contact named John Smith. I say,"TEXT JOHN SMITH". I get a new message addressed to:

SMITH; JOHN SMITH

The message can't be sent. Does that happen for anyone else, or am I storing my contacts wrong?

I used it to text the other day to 2 people and it worked fine. Does your contact have a mobile number against it?
