I decided to go ahead and snap my SpeedTest screenshots so you can see the type of speeds I'm getting. The WiFi seems to be very slow though. I get 112Mbps on My Surface 3 and 104Mbps on my iPhone 6+ when I had it, so the 640 XL is a lot slower in that regard. That doesn't bother me so much, since I don't use my phone for downloading huge files.

This may help.
4G vs LTE - key differences explained

Speeds listed in your speed test fall into the upper range of HSPA+. My BLU Win HD does not have LTE but I get those speeds regularly. However the bottom line is your getting good speed and are happy. That makes me happy that your happy.

For like the 100th time in this thread...

Around MY AREA, HSPA+ speeds are no where near that. I get like 2-5Mbps on HSPA+ in MY AREA. I'm getting the EXACT same speed test numbers on an iPhone 6+ that has LTE listed. Again...

My phone also displays H+ and H when I am in an HSPA+/HSPA area, not 4G.

The USA bands are completely different i think. I had used Verizon and AT&T networks devices in India. The box of the specific devices states that band numbers and this can also be noticed with the device model, just like you mentioned. There is difference with Spectrum frequencies in networks.
This HSPA, HSPA+,4G and LTE purely depends on the speed choosen by respected carriers in respective countries.

:winktongue: My BLU has 4G and gets the same speeds you have listed. It does not have an LTE radio in it.

Hey! That's FANTASTIC! AGAIN, for the 101st time. In MY AREA (FFS), HSPA/HSPA+ doesn't break 5Mbps. I am getting the SAME speeds on an iPhone 6+ as my 640 XL...IN MY AREA.

I am going to ignore any future posts about their "said" speeds on LTE/4G/HSPA+. Those are MY speeds on HSPA+, then it goes to 4G, which is LTE on a Global unlocked phone. I am getting the same speeds in my town as an iPhone 6+. I am getting the same speeds in Cherry Hill as my friend's Note 4. Both of those phones are NOT global phones and running on "advertised LTE".

Thanks for all of your comments, I will only be responding to questions regarding the phone, not what speeds you theoretically get on your phone in your area...

I'm thinking of buying this. The price is right, and it does indeed support AT&T's US LTE bands. Decisions, decisions!

If you do get it, don't mess with the Internet APN settings like I did to show my HSPA+ speeds. It screwed everything up for my data and I had to reset my device.

Rofl ...don't understand Why people having such hard time to understand that it's Pure LTE model you have....

Seems a bit silly to argue about it, since I've provided more than enough proof... I've owned several "global" phones, and I don't think any of them have reported LTE as LTE, but used 4G. Oh well.

ATT does not use band 7...the use
LTE uses Band 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz aka AWS-4)

and according to expansys their model supports these bands so it does work on ATT LTE (although i want to wait for att version due to 2 reasons, one it will be cheaper because locked, usually call quality has struggled for me with unlocked sets):

  • GSM Network: 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz
  • WCDMA Network: Band 1 (2100 MHz), band 2 (1900 MHz), band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), band 5 (850 MHz), band 8 (900 MHz)
  • LTE FDD network: Band 1 (2100 MHz), band 17 (700MHz), Band 2 (1900 MHz), band 20 (800MHz), band 3 (1800 MHz), band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), band 5 (850MHz ), Band 7 (2600 MHz), band 8 (900MHz), band 28 (700 MHz), band 12 (700 MHz)
  • TD-LTE Network: Band 38 (2570-2620 MHz), band 40 (2300-2400 MHz), band 41 (2555-2575 MHz)

I meant band 17.

anyways, hows the battery life with LTE?

2+ days of medium-light usage.

As an update to my issues with AT&T's LTE... I finally talked to someone who knew what they were talking about, after getting transferred 8 times. The previous 7 people said my phone does not support LTE on AT&T and argued with me saying I didn't know what I was talking about. I finally got a manager. He explained my phone is supported, but my IMEI was not in range for the device, so they have to get a list of supported IMEIs from Microsoft. Once that happens, my phone will officially be supported for LTE.

Also, he said only six people on the entire network were using the 640 XL. haha

So you have experienced issues? Do you have another thread?
This is why i am hesitant these days to buying unlocked sets, on my 1520, i feel on the handover i always get bad call quality. Its really annoying as i call from my car all the time.

My Dual Sim 640XL LTE has seen 50Mbps with 20 Mbps up load on ATT. In my area, ATT HSPA+ has always topped out 6-8 Mbps with max upload of 2 Mbps. The phone is getting LTE, no doubt in my mind. My phone came from Hong Kong, obviously they are more evolved there and do not need to see LTE to be happy with their phones and are comfortable knowing that they just work.

There is another thread called "enixon's 640 XL LTE review" or something along those lines. I am still waiting for AT&T's call back for an update, but I was told it could take up to a month, but it shouldn't be longer than a couple of weeks. They are waiting on Microsoft to get the IMEIs. My phone still functions find, just without LTE.

Unfortunately, if you haven't had it to long, AT&T's system might for you back to HSPA+. That's what happened to me, but I suppose it depends on your area and all of that. Good news, is it will be a recognized device on AT&T's network soon!
