Facebook message - text integration

I just noticed today that when my facebook friends message me it no longer comes as a text like it did with WP8. The option to switch between text and facebook no longer appears in the conversations either. Was this feature removed or do I need to do something to turn it back on? It will definitely suck if they removed it as that was one of my favorite features. Now facebook is hounding me to download their messenger app. I don't want two separate apps for texting people.

Yup. It got pulled in 8.1 so sadly you will have to download the Messenger app. It's a pain I know - I really liked that feature as well (until people sent me images.... they just show as a blank message).
