For all LUMIA photographers: Please stress-test my new gallery (beta)

Hello @ll

I'm a big fan of the lumia technology and I own a 1020. I really think that photos taken with a lumia need to have their own gallery. I know that there is one from Nokia, but I'm thinking about an independent one. So, I've created a gallery on LumiaGallery.com

It's in beta state and I will do some beautifying later... It would help me a lot if as many people as possible could register and upload their pictures, so the gallery get's stress-tested in order to find out if it is stable enough or not.

Also I'd like to know if you like the idea, and if there's anything missing: menu-wise, functions, usability etc.

Your e-mail addresses will not be used for anything else than for the gallery functions. However, if you do not like to register with your own e-mail address, I will accept disposable e-mail addresses such as Mailinator during the test period.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Its pretty nice site. What do you mean by "test period"? Do you plan to offer subscriptions to upload there?

No way, the gallery will be free of any charge of course. Test period means - until I get everything sorted out, and I really start ;-)

Ahh, ok. I don't have an issue with free enterprise even if you did go there. These images on the site are unbelievably sharp. Good job.

Hello Andrew

Yes, there are some, such as this one:

normal_WP_20130420_035.jpg
(small view)

This is even taken trough the airplane window in a moving old aircraft (Super Constellation).

or this one LumiaGallery.com: Click here to load large image

There are many more taken with the 920, just click on the images. When you click on 'show detail information' (button) you will even see all EXIF informations.

Please feel free to register yourself and upload your own photos, it's all free of charge and no ad's :)

Interesting...

I like the co-op idea. Can registered users create their own folders? Will you be placing images on hold to moderate them first? Will images get a Folder based on which phone model took the picture?

I'm curious about the 2-3 MB limit... Do you have an exact number? I'm sure many could easily exceed that with their files on a regular basis.

There is no mention I can find regarding copyright of images uploaded. If I upload images do I retain all rights? This is my main concern and why I won't rush in to upload images... I feel it is important for you to address copyright and explicitly enumerate on the site who owns the images. I would not want to upload a bunch of pictures and have the site claim ownership and/or commercialize the images without my knowledge and consent...

Thanks :) Sorry for my late reply. As the gallery has not really taken off yet, I'm not really observing this thread regulary...

As long as the gallery has not more than a couple of user, I will not place images on hold. I get an e-mail each time someone uploads images.
Currently, you have to indicate for each upload what the phone model is. To have model-named folders is an idea that I could realize in the future.

The file size _can_ be bigger than 2-3 MB each. But that makes not really sense, 1) there are still internet user out there with slow bandwith and 2) it's not necessary to have big file sizes to show the quality of a picture on a computer screen.

You will have this problem on most of the galleries in the internet: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, PIcase... etc.

Copyright, good point. The copyright remains with the photographer. I do not claim any rights on these pictures. The gallery was just a fun idea and non commercial.

As I said, I have only a handful of registred user there, and none of them are active.

Feel free to register and upload your pictures :) (but don't use the gallery as your external backup-space please...)
