Just a rediculously stupid question from a curious foreigner. :D

Why is Verizon called Big Red ? I have no idea.

Someone put me out of my misery please. :D

Am I as thick as a plank ? Is it obvious ?

So many questions. :D

Maybe because they are the largest carrier currently in the US and there logo is red letters in general. Hence Big Red.

This is just my take.

Because all there signs are red and they are the biggest cell carrier in the states. Followed closely by at&t.

It's just the accent color that Verizon uses in all their advertisement.

I think Vodafone owns controlling stock in Verizon.

Don't think that would work here somehow palandri.

Big Orange, nope totally rediculous. :D

Anyway I am now enlightened. :)

If at&t ever passes Verizon we will probably call them Big Blue and I suppose Sprint will always be little yellow.... That doesn't sound right does it. :) T-mobile is so small no one even cares that there color is Orange. It is odd how all the US carriers have gone with colors to differentiate themselves. Makes you wonder if they have ever lost customers based on there chosen color.

I think what made Verizon popular in the states was their, "Can you hear me now" commercials". It emphasized the tedious work they put into their network connectivity.

...Verizon Ad
...Was that the right Verizon ad ?...

That was it. They had a variety of the, "Can you hear me now" ads. It was probably the most successful ad in history. Even if they didn't have a good network, it convinced everyone that they did.

Yes so instead of 'Big Red', it was really 'Big Liars' :D

They sure can be persuasive some of those ads.
