Forwarding "unknown" attachments

I often find that when I forward an email with a file type other than a picture or Office file, Windows Phone's email app strips out the attachment without warning. I think this happens every time with an IMAP account and never with an Exchange account. I've done some tests just now to verify and that seems to be the whole story.

Can anyone confirm? Does anyone know a fix (possibly a better email app?)
