Some say by holding the little button on the grip. I can't confirm it though. I've tried it, but it kept charging my 1020.

Yes i can confirm you do hold the power check button on the grip for 3 seconds to toggle the charge phone/idle option,and the leds blink to confirm changed state.
,i already have a grip myself so if i get the free one aswell my friend shall have a nice gift

Well, I started this thread many weeks ago so I think it's time I said to our Finnish friends:
