I just read this article, where GDDR3 for 1020, 620 and 520 are coming. But to my surprise Nokia didn't announce an update for 920. GDDR3 has brought such a significant improvement on 1520. That's annoying, that for lower end devices like 520,620, there is an update but not for high end 920

That announcement was from Telus, a Canadian carrier. Telus doesn't carry the 920. Rogers is the only Canadian carrier that has the 920.

Hi all,

I talked to a Nokia representative online and he was very helpful!

He said that the GDR3 update with Nokia Black will come in the beginning on 2014 which is probably a month way (fingers crossed). They should hopefully squash any bugs and lags by then and we might get newer firmware.

Hope that helps!

Personally, I hope Nokia drops a phone worthy enough as a replacement for my L920 January 2014.

Gimme a ~5 inch Lumia WP8 device with GDR3, built in qi charging, 32GB storage, and I'll be set.

I think we should bash some heads in at ATT so they give us our qi charging back also for me 32gb is fine IF they give a micro sd card slot as well. Other wise I need at least 64gb on board.

Yeah, the 1520 is too big and not that much of an improvement for me. I hope they make a nice device in that screen size.

The 1520 is a beautiful device if that appeals to you but the L920 is a star. Lots of talk about the Lumia 920's adiposity as compared to other devices, namely the Iphone but honestly, its girth has never been an issue for me. Its a solid device and is still very polished in how it performs. That that is the challenge for Nokia. Building a device that competes with the Lumia 920. Lots have tried but none enough to cause me to pull the trigger on it...not yet.

That's the 929 for you, which is the device that I want if a 4.5" high-end Lumia will never return, but I'm on AT&T. I hope AT&T gets the 929 too, and not just Verizon.

How is this possible? Does Lumia 920 have more physical RAM than 1GB, but is somehow disabled, and will be enabled with GDDR3?

He might have meant GDR3 increases the max RAM supported in WP8, and if that's the case then its GDR2 (1020) and not GDR3
