gmail on the tilt?

I am a tilt newb, but fairly tech savy (ithink).
i have tried to set up my gmail accounts a couple of times as (pop3) setting to download entire message for messages in last 3 days.
Then it will say loading headers...
1..2..3 of 405 Then after it finishes this sequence, it will say 'disconnecting', then 'gmail 0 items'.

I sent an email from the account, so I know it works, but it will not show the items in the inbox.

Any other settings I should change? Has this happened to anyone else?

Not sure. I just setup gmail as pop3 as well and it pulled down about 240 messages to the inbox which I saw and deleted.

I just get it up as IMAP and it seems to be working great.
