I downloaded the Developer 8.1 tonight on my Lumia 1520 and I am having some problems with my Google account (I'll pause while you all get over your shock).

I've tried searching the forums, so if this issue has already been fixed I wasn't able to locate it, so feel free to point me in the right direction.

When I go to add my Google account, it takes me to the screen to do the OAuth process. When I click connect, it goes to the black screen like is thinking, but then just takes me back to the connect screen. I think I have found the cause, but don't know the solution. When I go to IE and log in to Gmail or Google+ (basically any https://) Google site, I get the Certificate Error screen. Even when I try to do a Google search from the Google App, I get the Certificate Error screen that flashes up and it doesn't connect.

I was able to get my email added by using the advance setup option, but that does not give me the option to add my calendars or contacts.

I'm really hoping I am not the only one who had this problem and somebody has a fix.

Did you try to use the app password or your google pw? I had to use the one time app password on my 1320 to make the g-account fully accessible.

EDIT: I have had several certificate errors before and I then tried the app pw.

Hotphil - I'll have to double check later, but it is the Certificate creator is not recognized and it gives me the option to go back to previous website or continue. I click continue and can access it from IE, but it doesn't give me that option anywhere else.

iKarlito - I'm not familiar with an app pw. I only have 1 pw that I know of for Google, and it's my normal password.

Steps to fix it: Do a backup of your most important stuff and then a hard reset. It will bring you a clean and functional Windows Phone 8.1

Thanks Maclancer that fixed the issue perfectly. I'm having the same issue with ESPN now but that isn't as important as my Google stuff.
