Got my Surface Pro 3 today yay!!!

I would go for the i5 or i7 then. I have the i5/128GB SP3 and both Photoshop and Lightroom work pretty good.

As I pointed out I can't afford that. It's the i3 or nothing. Anything more and the woman will have my head. Just confirming that PhotoShop can run on it 😊

She doesn't HAVE to know it's an i5... :cool: It will run, I just don't know how well. Photoshop and Lightroom ran ok on my old SP1... Not great, just ok. The i3 SP3 is faster than the SP1 I believe. Does that help any?

Ya thanks! I can always return it if it doesn't work or convince her on the i5. I have too many toys. I value my life so asking her now would lead to my demise
 
With Photoshop the new CC version has a setting where you can enlarge the tool and menu text size, unfortunately it's only in the CC version. If you have CS6 or older then you will want a mouse or use the pen as everything is so small and it will make it easier to make correct selections. I think Photoshop will run just fine but if you start getting into huge .psd files then you might notice it slow down.
 
I strolled into the Navy Exchange today and saw the folks in the electronics department unboxing a bunch of stuff. Sure enough--the SP3 I ordered was in. Love it!
 
Mine maybe coming this December if ever the issues hounding SP3 won't discourage me. I plan getting SP3 with i7 proc 8gig mem 256gig ssd. I might also include a docking station and the microsoft arc touch mouse. I wonder how will the tablet handle an Excel file having several sheets and layers of nested functions and formula - in addition to several linked files. I'm a number cruncher doing statistics and measurements. I also use MS Access as my database management application. For layout and 3D presentations, I use visio, google sketchup and Autocad LT. For my photography needs, I plan to install Photoshop and Lightroom. Although I'm not into games, I like word games like Hasbro Scrabble as a respite.

I've been using PCs for sometime and consider myself an expert. I hope I can work around the SP3 issues with software and firmware updates. It's now a less than two-month wait and hopefully more issues will be announced by users and microsoft fast enough to resolve these issues with updates and firmware upgrades.

With several issues cropping up, I wonder if Microsoft thoroughly tested SP3 before releasing it to the public. I do not think so. If ever they did, then their quality control sucks. I assemble PCs as a hobby and I always test ("burn") the unit by having it run overnight before its delivery to the user.
