That is the question

I'm considering reinstalling the DP but this time I want to do everything correctly.

I've talked with the Windows store today and they will reflash back to stock if it goes wonky again for me..but they don't have a way to flash the DP for me so I won't know if I got a full good download till after it's flashed.

For those who have had no issues, how did you go about this.

What is the proper method used from start to finish .I'm never too old to learn something new,and appreciate everyone's assistance

Thanks

Mac

I installed the DP yesterday on my 1520, and after running into a few issues I've decided to hard reset and see how that goes for me. So I recommend just hard resetting instead of waiting for an issue to appear.

I agree- I factory reset right after every major update and have never had a subsequent problem with our HTC 8X and Lumia 521.

Sorry to hijack but question about hard resetting: If I reset do I need to start fresh, or is it okay if I use a backup restore?

To me a backup restored seems like it would bring all the WP8 issues of possible incompatibility along with it. If I was going to go to the trouble id start fresh.
FWIW I have an icon and chose to upgrade with no hard reset prior or after and everything turned out fine. I have very few apps tho. I would have done a hard reset without hesitation if I had issues, but lucky me I had none.

I did hard reset yesterday and I did use backup. Otherwise you'll have to install all the apps manually. I have looong list so just connected to wifi and let it do its job.

I installed the Dev Preview about 10 days ago. I just let it update. I did have an issue with mp3s not playing on anything and the FM radio not picking up any stations on my 1020. A soft reset fixed the mp3 issue and several reboots over a couple days magically fixed the FM Radio.

I will only use a hard reset on a device as an absolute last resort. Doesn't matter what the device is or it's OS. It's just too much hassle to me to get everything set up again on most devices.

Good luck! And enjoy the new features!

Well I am trying it without again just to see if the second time is a charm.

I did notice a issue with the Wi-Fi signal strength at work last night where there should be good signal, hopefully it will settle down in a day or two and behave it's self. 1 heating issues as well, this time the heat was localized to the sim,SD card area. Very strange to say the least.
