Headphones and the HTC 8X not working correctly

Okay. So here's the problem. I plug the headphone in and the audio still comes out of the speaker on the phone. Beats doesn't react. Now when I use a BlueTooth device, it switches out fine and works like a dream. Is this in need of a new audio jack? Software issue? Thanks.

Was the headphone working before this? And if yes, could you remember what you did to the phone recently? Maybe you updated the software, or installed a new app, and whatnot?
