Lost me on step 4, reads like your attaching this "USB 2.0 cable" to itself.
Followed the instructions in your post, the modified cable recharged the phone while navigation, bluetooth and music player are working. A thousand thanks!Youre welcome..Let me know if it worked
TThat's great.. I am glad it worked out for youFollowed the instructions in your post, the modified cable recharged the phone while navigation, bluetooth and music player are working. A thousand thanks!
Any chance we can buy one of these cables? I'm in this same situation, I will be using my phone for Navigation while driving so I need to be able to charge it. I guess I can hack up one of my cables but it would be nice to just buy one.
I am assuming this isn't a "from the factory" deal though?I can sell you one if you like. How long of usb cable do you need?

I just got this one from amazon. It says it is charge only:
Amazon.com: PureGear Charge Only Cable for Universal Micro USB - Retail Packaging: Cell Phones & Accessories
You should be able to find some "charging only" micro USB cable on the internet. They should be the same as the "modified" cable mentioned above. So here is the million dollar question... is it possible to find the equivalent of said modified cable in an factory equivalent? I don't care about data, just charging. I am going to try this, I am just not too keen on the look of electrical tape or shrink tubing on the cable...
