Help! Device On/Off Issues

When I try to power down my lumia, so it can charge when it's off. It immediately vibrates and powers on again. I'm not sure what's going on? Anyone Know a fix?

That is normal all Windows phones do that. When a Windows Phone receives an update part of the update process is to restart the phone that is why it turns on automatically when plugged in.

So when will I be able to turn off the phone to do a charge while it's off. I see the good bye screen then it restarts the device again.

You can power the device off if you just want it turned off but any time it is plugged in and charging it will be on. I can see how some people would find this annoying but that is how it is on a Windows Phone. There are other reasons for this like monitoring the amount of charge so the phone will stop charging when the battery is full. The battery will charge to 100% and stay there.

Thanks, didn't know this was a natural thing I've used BB, iOS, and Android. Now giving wp7 a try. It's not bad but there are a few peculiar UI functions that I find a bit awkward. I'll post it on the main OS forum once I get around to it.

Also, could I use a higher capacity charger to charge the battery. I have the Playbook charger that I used to charge my BB. It delivers a lot of juice pretty quickly. If I can it would save money for another Nokia charger.

This is true, but most modern li-ion batteries won't allow themselves to be overcharged as part of the battery hardware itself (nor will they allow themselves to be completely discharged, also severely reducing their lifespan). I wouldn't worry about this.

I shut my phone off while I'm at work (and it needs to be off while I'm at work, as it is too much of a distraction). However I sometimes need to charge it while I'm at work so that I'll have enough charge to use the phone after I leave work.

Has Windows issued a fix for this issue? Did they ever consider that some people don't need to be connected 24/7 and would like to have their phones shut off some of the time? I used to have an iPhone and it didn't need to be turned on to charge, maybe I should go back to the iPhone next time.
