Horrible reception indoors?

I got myself a second hand AT&T Lumia 1520, but I am using it in Japan. As far as I know, it supports the bands used in Japan. But my reception is horrible indoors.

Most of the time, I have just not reception at all when I am indoors. Outdoors I have full 4G (LTE) reception.

On my android phone (xperia z3), I have perfect reception everywhere, indoor, outdoor...

Is it a common problem for this phone? Or would there be a different reason?

Mhm, apparently the only band that works in Japan (according to wikipedia, comparing LTE bands page and 1520 page) is the 700MHZ band. That is the lowest band.

I suppose I cannot change/adjust anything like that in the device itself, right?

Depends on few things - using a dedicated sim (not a trimmed one). lodge a network complain with the service provider. (Will get closed saying deep indoor usage, unable to provide optimization)

I never had any reception issues with my 1520 tbh. I'd have to say it is probably more likely something to do with the carrier you're on.

ATT phone is probably the issue since Carrier phones are usually locked to specific bands from a specific carrier AFAIK. I personally would not rely on Wikipeida for the bands (since it can be edited) Try calling your network provider and get them to confirm what bands do they use. I have 2 sim cards in Malaysiam Hotlink is like your case great outside (full network) but bad indoors (fluctuates) while Digi (the other sim seems to be an all rounder).
