How big of an update will WP 8.1 be?

MS aims to provide a massive update with GDR2, OS, drivers etc. I hope they do, cause on all WP8 devices WiFi and other drivers a Beta at best... I wonder if GDR2 is 8.1...

GDR2 is Nokia, I think. Firmware updates are always from Manufacturer. It's Microsoft's update with the actual OS update, which is WP8.1/Blue.

The name 8.1 leads me to believe the update wont be that big. If the update was numbered 8.5 I would imagine it would be along the lines of mango as far as added features.

Considering it will of been approx 1 year since WP8 had been released and the other releases were minor.. I'm hoping it will be something big otherwise very few new features have been added to the OS.

Well windows 8.1 is a massive update. Suspect the numbering is going to be similar to windows 8's update numbering

As big as W8 and WP8 update may be, the most work is still in the parts we don't see. So I suspect we actually get very little visual and some improved functionality. W8 is in dire need of 8.1 to fix the built in apps etc. GDR2 is probably a ground prep for WP 8.1 this fall and the new devices that will spawn the next era.
That is what I believe.

It will be significant. They are foregoing the jump to WP9 because I think they want to keep Windows and WP to a 2 year full digit cycle. No way they would be able to sell a new Windows every year at full price. 8.1 will essentially be what WP9 would have been if they kept going with a 1 year cycle. Should have many new features and new hardware spec bump etc. We should start knowing more at Build and thereafter.

GDR2 is the actual OS update from MS, Amber is the part that is a firmware bump from Nokia. They will reportedly be bundled together for Nokia devices or come out very close together.

Sorry but that rlly doesn't seem like a leak? All you do is put high contrast on, with white background and voila... Unless you are talking about that feedback icon? No idea what the point is

I'm sorry your mistaken GDR2 is an o/s level update, PR 2.0 aka amber is GDR2 with Nokia tweaks. I'm not holding my breath for samsung or htc tweaks.

WP Blue - 8.1 i seriously hope they add a notification centre that is both pinnable and swipe-able from the left. Those who think there is no need.. I seriously question your logic you seriously cannot have all your apps pinned to the start screen it becomes counter productive and counter-intuitive. Especially once you open the said you the counter is reduced 0 i.e you receive several texts messages and emails even though you haven't read them.

I get 200 emails a day at minimum for work, so i find i am having to respond there and then when i get the email as if I back out there is no way to keep track of all the unreads without using the swipe to unread and knocking it off that list. I would love to just glance at my phone and see what else is next without having to dive into the app, swipe and scroll.

Or say you are using whatsapp and have several group chats going and you have put your phone down to i.e. do something else as not everyone is glued to their phones (if seen arsey remarks how a notification will make WP like ios or android - it won't it depends how it is implemented - ofc it will look the other o/ses if it is replicated!). You get couple of toasts but since you've missed them there is no way of telling what you got without having to jump into the groups read the convo and reply - highly inconvenient!

What we need is the ability to create profiles for bundles of system settings.
I.e. When at home u hit the tile, select HOME and phone automatically turns on WiFi, off data, off location, off battery saver, brightness to med, touch medium (just as example).
Then, when running to work it should take two taps to change to DRIVING which turns off WiFi, on data, on battery saver when low, screen low broghtness, touch high, etc (fully configurable ofcourse).
Then at work, u hit the profile tile, select WORK and data goes off, with GPS, and WiFi goes on, etc.
Profiles dont need to mess with the ability to change individual options once a profile is selected, but should simply help to quick-tune the phone when necessary.
Why do we have to scroll through five menus nearly every time we change locations I.e.?
