How can I get my Nokia 909 button working?

nokia 909 back button has stopped working

total nightmare, cannot see what apps are running, can't 'page back' during app use, have to return to start screen every time I change an app, its gone from being a great phone to a load of C?@%

Have you done any troubleshooting? (Soft reset and/or hard reset)
