How can I get rid of a previous Microsoft account on my Nokia 625?

I want to get rid of a previous Microsoft account on my nokia625.

My dad has given me his nokia 925. I've tried downloading what's app and other apps I've had on a previous nokia but I can't get any further than ...add password on his Microsoft account. He can't remember it and also the email address is his. I want to change it all to my details. I've tried to read up on it , I've pressed on the account and it should show delet but it only shows sync . So please ... Can you help me. What about a hard reset???? Thanks Diane.

You will have to perform a hardreset. Every single item on the device is tied to the Microsoft account. Apps, IAPs, contacts, calendars, OneDrive. There's just no way to remove a primary account and replace it with another one other than performing a hard reset and start from scratch.
