Hi guys,

I've just joined this forum out of desperation. I have the Lumia 625 and wish to synchronize the contacts and calendar from my Outook 2010 on my Windows 7 pc (64bit). Having looked on the microsoft and windows websites, I cannot find clear and concise instructions. I'm not stupid, well not all all the time, but there seems to be assumed knowledge on those instructions. Can anybody help me here please?

Best regards,
Martin

We've seen a similar query in the forums about a week and a half ago.

If you use your Outlook email account as your primary Microsoft email account in your phone, you should be able to sync your contacts, including your calendar.*

If your Outlook email account is not the same as the Microsoft email account in your phone, you may set-up a new email account under Settings > email+accounts > add an account** and then later choose to sync your contacts after configuring your new account. However, syncing contacts (and calendar events) is not applicable to all email servers (e.g. Yahoo! Mail seems to currently not support this with Windows Phones). In my experience, however, only the contacts associated with or linked to my Microsoft email account or the email accounts I have added are synced to my phone.

*- Provided your Outlook 2010 email account is the same with your outlook.com email account or any of its "aliases" (if you created any). The idea is to export your Outlook 2010 contacts to your Microsoft email account, and then use the Microsoft email account as your primary email account in your phone.
**- Alternatively, you can go to People Hub > ... > Settings > Add Contacts > add an account.

You can add your Outlook.com account to the Outlook program and then put your contacts, calendar, etc in that folder and it will sync to your outlook.com cloud account. Or, there are apps that can do a direct sync from the Outlook program to your phone via cable (circa 2005, lol). Or the best way is to get an Office 365 account and it will work like exchange email and keep everything in sync across all devices.
