How low would you go for a phone? (help)

I need to send my phone in for service (the issue is becoming more frequent), but I can't not have a phone for various reasons. Anyway, I have a T-mobile branded 640. I'm trying to decide on a temporary replacement phone, and it's been hard. At the moment, I'll rather not buy a midrange but I do have enough Amazon credit for whatever low end I desire. I can't afford to charge the price of buying another 640 from t-mobile, which appears to be out of stock anyway.

I feel like 512 RAM would be a struggle to deal with, after having 1 GB RAM.

If you were in my shoes, how low will you go? Also, in general, how low would you go for a replacement phone?

This is true. I forgot to say that I'll like to be able to sell it back or do a trade in on Amazon (I hate the process of selling). There are a lot that are eligible for that, but of course the trade in value varies.

I never use WiFi calling. My actual budget (outside of Amazon) is no more than $80 if I'll be paying tax and/or shipping. On Amazon, I have slightly less than $200 in credit.

I read a lot on my phone. Websites, ebooks, Windows Central app, but ebooks and Kindle the most.

Hmm, either one I'll consider. I agree about spending, I have the credit but I would rather not use all of it.

Funny that you share the Win HD. After seeing all of your posts about it, it had me thinking of trying it. I just might do that, thank you.

Just wanted to share an update that I plan to send in my phone next week, and my mom has a 521 that I asked her to borrow. She's a Droid user now so she wouldn't be missing it lol.

Almost nothing beats free.

I personally would bottom out with a Lumia 635 and or Moto E, although used, an 820.

But if we're talking drastic measures, I'm sitting on a Treo 650 that seems to need using, I'd go 520 or maybe 532/435.

The 530 could be an option.

Yeah I was debating between the 435/532 and 530. I just didn't want to spend much and also have an option to trade in or sell it back. The t-mobile 435 is 40 at WalMart but then I would feel stuck with it. I wanted to stay in WP as well.

I keep editing this post lol, but I don't know if I would have to pay to send it back to Microsoft (the 640) but I would rather cover my bases.

(Last edit, I think): I did try with the 521 but I found that it felt too low of a downgrade so I got a 435 from Walmart. I am so indecisive, but I thank you all for your help anyway!
