How many rows of tiles do you have pinned?

I occasionally have issues with my live tiles working properly/ updating periodically on my Lumia 920. For instance, sometimes all of them stop updating for no obvious reason. I've been trying to track the root cause of this issue but have had little success so far. However, I did notice a pattern on a couple of occasions. I currently have 16 full rows of tiles (height of small tile being 1 row and that of medium and wide tiles being 2 rows) and have 6 apps that I've allowed to run as background tasks: Advanced English Dictionary, Amazing Weather HD, BBC News Mobile, Nextgen Reader, Podcatcher, and WPCentral. I noticed that if I try to pin four new small tiles and create a 17th row, that disrupts the live tile performance (doesn't matter if any of these new tiles are background enabled apps or not). Suddenly, all the aforementioned live tiles stop working. And they resume working only after I delete that 17th row of tiles, clear IE10 cache, and perform a soft-reset. I'm not too sure if the number of background tasks is very relevant here, because I had the exact same issue when I had only 4 apps enabled as background tasks (Amazing Weather HD, BBC News Mobile, Nextgen Reader, and WPCentral). Even then, adding a 17th row of tiles would result in live tiles not working anymore.

I wanted to get feedback from the WP8 community to see if there, in fact, is any correlation between the number of rows of tiles and performance of 3rd-party app live tiles. So if you folks could reply back with a. what phone you're using, b. how many rows of tiles you have, c. the number of apps you've enabled to run as background tasks, and d. if all your 3rd-party app live tiles update periodically, that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also, if somebody (who is having less than or equal to16 rows of tiles and no issues with live tiles) would be willing to experiment with adding 17 or 18 rows of tiles and check (for a few hours at least) if that affects the live tile performance in any way, I would appreciate it.

I have 16 rows, and six background tasks. Added an app, so now I have row 17. Will watch and see if the live tiles are behaving...

I have 16 rows and 11, yes 11, background tasks on a Lumia 620!! and everything has been working smoothly..

edit: Sorry for the double post

Well, I have 40 rows of tiles and 14 background tasks running on my 920 and all my tiles are behaving as they should.
It's funny, my number of tiles seems really excessive compared to yours, but like I said, I have no issues.

Ok, I can confirm that the 17th row didn't tip the balance, had three tiles update since I added it.

!? Just got to ask what your battery life is like! Every time I've tested numbers of background tasks against battery life my conclusion has always been that it doesn't really seem to make that much difference....

Currently 9-1/2 rows and 5 apps w/background tasks allowed on my 920.

I only use one 3rd party app live tile for battery %, which seems to work ok, maybe a few % behind occasionally. I'm new to WP8, but my experience w/WP7 caused me to give up on non-native live tiles. I'm sure I'll revisit more of these over time.

Honestly, I've never really taken the time to measure my battery life. I charge my phone every night and the only time I run the battery dead is when I do a lot of gaming on my phone (which isn't very often) or when I have long Skype sessions (which I do frequently).
As far as background tasks go, I usually try to keep those down to a select handful, but sometimes i get too busy to remember it.
I'll try and post what my battery reads tonight after work.

Ok, the results of my usage after my last charge 27 hours ago:

- Battery still has 11% charge left
- I talked on my phone for a total of 1.5 hours
- periodically checked the Me hub.
- periodically checked the People hub and posted a couple messages to Facebook.
- Read acouple articles from WPCentral
- Read a couple articles from Weave
- Texted several people all day long.
- Sent more texts using Metrotalk.
- Read and wrote a few emails.

The only thing I didn't do from my normal daily routine was listen to music for an hour or so and using Skype for an hour or so late at night. Those activities generally runs my battery down to 0% around midnight or so after taking my phone off the charger around 7am.
