How to change username

When registering I made the mistake to give my real name Paul Kortman as (visible) user name. Now I can't change the the name in 'Manage Profile'. Also strange is that there are two fields for Frontname and surname, in which my desired nickname is filled in, but that isn't having any effect on my actual username. What do I have to do?
