How to disable notification sound

Is there a way to change or turn off the notification sound? It's pretty loud and it can be quite disturbing at times. First time I heard it, I was walking to my room late at night (I just turned off all the lights so it was dark) and it suddenly scared the hell out of me. Nearly dropped my phone. Can I change or just silent it without affecting other alerts?

If you are running WP8.1, the notification sound can be disabled in action centre.


Tapping where it shows "default" lets you change the sound or disable it altogether.

You just knew it had to be here, roni09riku. The WPC app has to have more customization options than any app I've seen. Jay did an awesome job!

It's possible in WP8.1 but I'll admit I hadn't considered it in 8.0, we may pop out a small update to allow people to revert to the default on 8.0
