How to display to TV?

Recently I purchased a micro hdmi to hdmi cable, I plugged the micro into the Surface 2 and the full hdmi into my TV. Unfortunately nothing I do will enable me to send my display to the TV. What am I missing?

What I do (and probably not the most efficient way to do it) is to go to the desktop and right-click on the desktop and go into display settings... just like full Windows. From there you can mirror displays or extend them. Very cool.

That worked for video, but how do I route sound as well. Trying to play movies currently on my Surface on the tv

HDMI routes sound too. If it isn't working try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable and seated properly.

Make sure you have all your updates. There was an issue that came with Win8.1 that needed a patch for audio out to HDMI.
