If you were more comfortable on android , I would say jump back asap.... You are in for a big disappointment here... I too am jumping in November when my contract is up...I have been a long time supporter of Nokia and this platform...but after the way I have been treated and the experience I have had this year I cannot wait to leave...THey just want your money and once they have it you are screwed... And this forum is full of egotistical fanboys and pretentious moderators who know everything lol... Most are self important jerks...You are honestly better off going back to android or like me apple...At least apple stands behind their products

Please describe how you can turn off the option for syncing contacts but still receive emails!
Over react? Its took so long and only one person bother to reply to my question, now you sauy this minutes after my last post, either help or stay off the thread
Do you think I live on WPcentral? I'm just seeing this post and the OMG this sucks I'm jumping to Android ASAP bit was weird and has been heard 1000x times.
Personally I'd jump to apple though if WP and Microsoft don't shape up.

This isn't directed at you specifically, but unfortunately, people may think that the data on your phone is private, but governments don't really care. And honestly, If people think just a simple not syncing of email and contacts protects you from PRISM, then you really haven't been paying attention. Your data and info is gathered through the carriers. If it goes through a carriers system, PRISM has captured it. Anything you do on your smartphone can be (and probably already is) gathered/monitored regardless whether or not you sync contacts and/or email. All it requires is a simple transmission of data and you're instantly "outed". So to be quited honest, if you're looking for a "secure" device where there is absolutely no monitoring, I don't think one exists if you have a contract or data plan through a carrier.

If one were to say the don't want to sync that stuff because of a limited data plan, then I can totally understand the "paranoia" about syncing.

Windows Phone OS does not continually offer to keep syncing your contacts, period. If you're having that problem, then it is being caused by an app installed by your carrier. AT&T is bad about this with the AT&T Address Book. It behaves this way. Uninstall AT&T Address Book if it is on your phone and that problem should go away. If you're with a different carrier, then find out what that carrier's app is for syncing, and remove it.
