I am wondering if anyone here has tried the new HDFury NanoGX with a rear projection TV. I am seriously thinking of trying it and the NanoGX one seems to be the most affordable version. I have a 65" Mitsubishi that only has the 1080i in RGBHV and I just want to know if anyone has been able to get a similar TV to work with it. I would be using it with a PS3 that does support 1080i output. I would probably also try it with an HD Cable Box from Comcast Xfinity. But not certain of that. I am more interested in just playing my BluRay's on this bigger screen.

So if anyone has tried the HDFury NanoGX with an older Rear Projection TV that is 1080i I would like to know the results. Thanks in advance if you have and reply to me. :)

Just wondering why your looking at that device, it will do nothing for you besides if your looking for a better picture?

From the specs...
On most TVs and projectors movies and games are too dark or missing detail in dark scenes. GammaX fixes this by adding a ‘Gamma Boost’ without washing out the picture. Simply plug the GammaX directly into the HDfury2, HDfury, HDfury Gamer Edition, or any device with RGB output and enjoy a more vibrant picture with perfect shadow details!

This device is a ADDON to their other devices (HDfury, HDfury2). This will do nothing for you with what you are trying to do.

Let me guess, when you connect your PS3 via Component video (3 video cables), games play fine in 1080i but, when you try to play a blu-ray, your getting out of sync video (your Mits goes to a blue screen), right ?

The device your looking at will do NOTHING for you. This is a double wammy, read my first post. You would need to run your PS3 via HDMI and support HDCP. The only device that would do this for you is the HDfury2 or HDfury 3... (check on ebay, when they come up I have seen HDfury 2s go for around $100).

The other possible problem is, I believe that the PS3 outputs in native mode, so even with the HDfury2/3, it's going to try to push out a 1080p signal to your 1080i set and your STILL going to go out of sync.

Cheapest way to do this so you can play blu-ray discs ? Well the device to make it all work, would be a 3Dfury (HDfury4), this with a custom firmware will scale 1080p down to 1080i and remove HDCP but, this device is like $400

Your best bet, if your end goal is to just watch Blu-ray discs on your big tv, is to buy a blu-ray player that has component HD out.... You should be able to get a base one for $100ish...

I am in the same boat, I have a 65" Mits rear projection TV with only RGBHV (can be used as component) and the TV only supports 1080i and 480p. So when I got a Xbox one, I could not even use it because it only supported 720p and 1080p, and I needed a scaller to take 1080p and drop it in real time to 1080i...

No quick or cheap way to do this right....

if your going to stick with this TV for a while...a HDfury device makes a big difference in picture quality, esp if your using switching do have a few component video devices connected to that SINGLE HD input on that tv...

You are wrong about the NanoGX being an Add-On device for the other HDFUry devices. The NanoGX is basically an HDFury1 just redesigned and with GammaX added on. I would post a link to the device on the HDFury site so you can review it but I do not have enough post here to post links. But I will suggest that you visit their site and look it over if you ever get the chance. That way you can see what I am saying. Who knows maybe you to would want to try one out and see if it works for your TV as well.

Actually when I connect my PS3 and try to play BluRay movies at 1080i it works just fine using the regular RGB Component cables in the RGBHV connection. At least it says that it is 1080i when I hit the Info Button. The picture is not as good as my newer 3D TV but that is expected as it is older Rear Projection TV.
The idea I had on getting this devices came about for a few reasons.

First is so that I can use an HDMI output device on my TV. Like the HDMI only devices such as the Xfinity Cable Box.

The Second is so that I do get a better Picture quality as you mentioned. This device (NanoGX) uses GammaX and does not require the use of the other HDFury Devices. The GammaX does give a better picture for Rear Projection TV's like mine. Plus I have read many times that HDFury devices give Sharper Images for Projectors and I want to see if that is true. If this is true then the Picture Quality should be better all around for my PS3 and Xfinity Cable Box.

The Third is so that I can at least get all my HD Cable Channels working without an issue. There are some HD Cable Channels that do not sync right. This is do to them not supporting 1080i. They need to be converted. Which is what the NanoGX does. It is a Converter just like the normal HDFury's. I must mention again it is Not and Add-On device like you suggested. At the time I try my old Cable Box I could not change the output format of that old Comcast Cable Box like I can with the PS3 so I was stuck with formats that it outputs. So the only way to get those other channels to work is to Convert them. Hence the need for something like HDFury. Now though that I have a new Xfinity Cable Box I need it even more as it is and HDMI only Device for HD Output. So I still need an HDMI Converter in order to hook it up to the TV. But just more so now.

I have heard of the problems with say the XBox One not supporting 1080i. But the PS4 does actually support 1080i. So if I was to ever get a next gen console I would be OK as I would get the PS4. I sort of stopped getting XBox after the Red Ring of Death issues I ran into way back when. My nephew has an XBoxOne though. Yet I doubt he will be bringing it over here to use on my TV. :)
Anyways this HDFury NanoGX does work with the XBox One according to the the HDFury site. So in theory if you have a 1080i only TV, Monitor, or Projector then it is supposed to make it work. Not sure how good it is or if it supports them all, but that is why I posted here to find out if anyone had tried it.

So I was wondering has anyone tried it to see if it actually worked as intended? Basically I am wondering what results people have got from it using it as converter like it is designed and if they got any better picture quality with it. I have heard of some HDFury devices not working with some TV's and such, and that they needed some sort of adjustments to things like the Image Shifting. Which by the way I can actually do to my TV even though it is a pain to do. So again have any of you out there tried it yet?

OK - really late to the game here as the last post was over 1 year ago. Brought the xbox one for the sole purpose of playing Fallout 4 and now have encountered this long standing issue....was not aware at all about the 1080i and 1080p issue. With that said - I think I have almost the exact same TV as you David, but my Mitsubishi does have one HDMI port. I have read the entire series of posts and think I understand, but wanted to ask a couple of clarifying questions. Found the Fury 2 gamer connector and my TV does both the HDMI and ypbpr slots. If i get the fury2 gamer connector it will allow me to play the xbox one in 1080i? Is that correct? Thanks!
