Does anyone know why car wireless charger Nokia cr-201 not working with hp elite x3. Through normal Nokia wireless charger dt-900 no problem at all working perfectly. But cr-201 nothing. I tried shifting x3 as possible to check if it is because coil position but no luck. I love my Nokia car holder charger. Almost thinking about returning x3 and get back to Lumia 1520.

I've tried nokia vertical Qi charger and Tylt that have worked with all my nokia phones with no joy. Is there an option that must be enabled or does the x3 require an hp base?

The Elite x3 has the coil below the fingerprint reader and above the HP logo. Make sure you line that area up with the charger. It should work on any QI charger as well as the other standard (don't remember the name). It does work fine on the Nokia DT-900 so I'd expect it to work on all others.

So far I have just been dropping the x3 into its dock to charge it, but out of curiosity I tried the Qi charging on an old Samsung tray that I originally got for a long-gone S4. The phone is too long for the depression, of course, but if you put the foot of the phone in the tray and let the upper end hang over the tray edge, the phone will put out an acknowledgment buzz and start charging.

Maybe the charging current is too low or the technology isn't the right one?

Usually, it is neither. Each Qi charger has one to three coils placed in specific spots. If those coils do not line up with the phone's coil you get no charging.

I believe the CR200 only has one coil. More expensive Qi chargers from third parties tend to have 2 or 3 to compensate for various brands.

IIRC the CR200 did not charge with the Lumia 950 XL either for the same reason.

TBH, Qi for car charging is hit and miss. The SD810/820 can burn more energy than can be fed to it by Qi when using Maps or constantly doing data on screen (music is more okay). If you are just looking for a passive charge (phone is not being used) Qi is okay, but if you plan to use it for navigation Type-C is the way to go. There is fast charge Qi starting to hit (Samsung has it), but it is still not as fast as Type-C IIRC.
