I just wanted to share my disapointment with the pace with which the apps are updated to support the HTC 8x resolution. I dont mind to see wp 7 apps running on my phone but the wasted upper part of the screen make me really mad.

Which is probably the reason why Nokia went with the 768 display. 800x480 scales up nicely to the 768 resolution. It was probably more economical for HTC to use the 720 display since they probably had tons lying around from their unsold android devices. We also need to blame developers for 1) not doing their part to support their own apps and 2) not supporting the ecosystem. Email the developer if you need to. I hate to say this, but if you need to rate an app lower to get their attention, then do it. We shouldn't need to have half-a$$ apps being developed for our devices.

There's something like 24% of WP8 phones are HTC 8x's. They should already have our attention! I love the 720p resolution, I think it is definitely a resolution that should stick!

Lazy app developers. I see no reason why they shouldn't update their app to support 720p. All my apps support 720p. Games might be a little bit difficult because you have to render the scenes differently.

Aside from that, WP7 apps will never be able to fill the extra space for 720p screen because WP7 apps only support one resolution.

I tend to mail developers a lot about this and the response is practically inexistent. Ok, i dont expect much from whatsapp or viber, but 4th an major and all of the podcasting apps (just to mention a few) still don't want to update to 720p nor are they responding. I really dont understand WP developers.

16:9 is a better aspect ratio for Windows Phone, it's just sad that the WP7 → WP8 app update situation is so bad.

As a developer I try to update all the apps I can, but sometimes it's hard to do so. Especially when you have an update in the works for WP7, which has to be finished before you can upgrade the project to 720p WP8.

The black line only irks me a lil bit for most things. It does go away completely though when I'm watching a tv show in full 16:9 HD..
