HTC One M8 Camera App Crashing

I just received a HTC One M8 for Windows from Asurion. I believe it was new as it came in the original retail box. When I first turned on and used the device, I was able to use the camera app to take a picture. For some reason it stopped working and any application that I use the camera will not work (including the HTC Camera App.) I can very briefly see the camera view finder screen open, but it immediately closes. I have already soft reset and hard reset the device. Any ideas?

Is it possible (I don't know) to uninstall and reinstall the app? That normally corrects app problems for me.

You could try another cam app. Pro shot from the store is good. Just to test if for no other reason.

It's actually on the list for the next firmware update. It locks up occasionally - mine usually does it when I'm trying to view an image after I take it. You can force close it with the multitasking window, but it might act up for a bit. Uninstalling and reinstalling might help and also make sure you have the updated version from the store.

There are no apps that can access the camera. I actually hard reset the device and am still unable to get any apps to access the cameras. Could this be a hardware issue??

There are tons of apps that require camera access... You can try the stock Microsoft Camera, Office Lens, ProShot (not free), Instagram Beta and many others.

See if using the stock camera creates the issue or not. If so, you might still need the HTC Camera update that rolled out after the device hit the market.

I have same issue. Just started happening the other day. No camera apps work, camera apps open and close quick. Took it to ATT support center today they flashed the phone and still no luck. They are sending me a replacement, using phone with no camera till then.
