Long story short, I had to get a new phone and switch carriers. I went with Verizon and got the 928. They only give you 14 days to exchange the phone. Don't want to be stuck with this one.

It doesn't seem that you have a lot of options. Before the 14 days are up, either decide to keep your 928, exchange it for an Odyssey or an 8X, or exchange it for a device on another platform. You could also consider getting something like an iPhone 5s or Note III, which you can then sell when the 929 (or whatever you're waiting for) is released. The cash you get will probably be more than enough to buy the 929 off contract.

They do if you're on Verizon. The best you can do for a temp windows phone on Verizon is a used NL822.

Sure they do BC he'll get his money back by selling those more popular phones. I have done that many many times. As long as you have the latest and greatest, you can usually get top dollar from them...enough to pay for your early termination fee and a very good chunk of your next phone.

Get a cracked-screen phone on ebay to tide you over, that's what I did. Found a 928 for $89 with only a slight crack which is actually off-screen.

Really? Wow, that's awesome. I wish I could find a deal like that. My Trophy is still truckin', but WP7.5 has just been abandoned when it comes to apps...

I think I got lucky. Most of the cracked-screen phones are really messed up, but mine is just in the lower-left-hand corner. Doesn't actually cover any part of the screen or buttons.

But you can get an 822 for $60-80 without a cracked screen that'll tide you over.
