Hi, this is my second Nokia and Windows phone, 928 the first time around. Both times, the poor battery performance is driving me away from being a full time windows phone user. My icon is draining on average about 27 percent an hour. Does anyone have any suggesting to help improve windows\ Lumia battery life.

I don't have a 928 but that is definitely not right... I get almost 2 days of average use on my 1520, and my 640... Check they battery sense app and see what is chewing up the battery!

I has use both and of you have a heavy use it will last 6-7 hours... If you use it moderately it will last all the day

27%/hour is a ridiculous amount of drain per hour. I dont ever even come close to that. Sometimes i get up to 15-20% if i am using GPS or playing audio on the speaker and using my phone but never near 30%. I would suggest trying to close a lot of background apps and find the culprit. You can also set your phone to use the battery saver. Also try lowering the screen brightness this should help a bit.

The Icon seems to have a defect where the battery just starts heating up and draining rapidly, then takes forever to charge. I've gone thru about 6 in a year, tho that was because the replacements came with the same prob, so I had to send them back immediately. My original lasted 4 months, then 2 replacements came with the same prob...the third was fine. That lasted about 5/6 months and I just got 2 replacements back to back. This one is working fine. The problem even killed 2 USB cables. It got to the point where I changed my outlets, and installed surge protectors after the first set of incidents, but it still happened. The techs at Verizon looked at all the phones and said it was a manufacturer 's defect, so never had to use insurance or pay a deductible, and they were all over nighted. I only put up with the hassles because I love this phone and of course WP.

This is what mine is doing right now. I thought it was a Windows 10 issue. Mine is not under warranty so I hope not. I'm thinking it's a OS bug and not a battery/hardware issue.

My 928 after all of the updates got me through about 6 hours, that's it. The Icon with light use will get me through the day but if I spend any amount of time on the internet or making calls I get about 9 hours before a charge is needed.

If you pay insurance, I'm not sure the warranty thing is an issue. Check at your local VZW store (corporate). They'll tell you where you stand. I do have Cortana pinned, but that hasn't been an issue on the phones that actually worked. If anything, NFC was a huge drain in my battery. But yeah, it sounds like your problem is the same as mine...hardware related. If you get a replacement, bring ur usb charger to the VZW store also. They will check the wall unit and cable and tell you which is bad or if both are bad, also. You may have to replace that too.

No insurance. Using mine on T-Mobile. My battery life wasn't bad until I installed Windows 10 though.

I do, yes. Is she the culprit? I don't notice it all the time.
Back when I had an icon I had the same issues as you. Someone suggested taking her off the start screen and that stopped the overheating nonsense.

Ahhh, that's too bad. You're stuck with it then. The Win10 is just a confidence, especially f your phone is doing exactly as mine was.

That's still pretty bad. I get at least 12hrs with heavy use.

Mine was definitely hardware related, as per the VZ tech, and the fact that it did it with or without Cortana.
