I'd like an opinion from the Mods and Admins

I came across a thread in which a member gave a reply to the question and then suggested to the OP to pm him/her for further help.

In my understanding, Windows Central is a public forum where people come for solutions to their problems. As such, any reply should be posted in public for the benefits of others who may or maynot have the same problem.
I don't believe turning the forum into a private tutoring venue is the mandate of Windows Central.

I would like to hear from the Mods and Admin on this topic.

The following is my opinion.

People are free to discuss as they see fit, whether using PM's or posting publicly.

Sometimes an individual would like more discretion, privacy, or choose to keep the tedious/sensitive part of a dialog out of public view and communicate via PM.

Everyone here is here on their own free will (I would certainly hope) and as long as they respect the rules set here and generally don't make a mess, they can interact how they like.

I agree the point of a discussion board isn't to become a "private tutoring venue" and I understand it may be frustrating to see a potential solution just out of reach, but I also believe people should be free to exercise their discretion in these cases.

You are of course able to ask individuals to share publicly if you so desire, but whether they do so is up to them.
